Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress, who is employed in the fields of film, television as well as theatre. The family was born to Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria until 7 years old, Contractor was well-informed about the world and an array of different cultures from a young age. When she was seven until nine, Contractor went to boarding school in London. The family later moved to Toronto where she lived throughout her early years. Contractor was a wonderful pupil in Toronto and trained to be an expert ballet dancer. In the Etobicoke School of the Arts (a public high school specializing in the arts), Contractor studied both ballet and theater. Contractor began her acting career at 16, following nearly 10 years of dancing. She accepted a full-scholarship to attend the University of Toronto after graduating. The university offered her master's degree in theater and also double-majored in sociology and psychology. Contractor was a participant in the highly acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After a full year, she was given the role of lead. In 2002, Canadian theater critics were awed by her performance in 92 productions of Pericles. The actress accepted an invitation to enroll in Stratford's conservatory, a program which allows just four men and eight women can take an intensive 20-week program in classical theatre. Contractor was guaranteed a spot in the following season of productions and was offered the role in the role of Hermia In A Midsummer Night's Dream.
